Richa Chadha On Payal Ghosh's #MeToo Allegations Against Anurag Kashyap: Not An Advocate For Him, He Can Defend Himself
In an interview, Richa Chadha stated that she Anurag Kashyap can defend himself when asked to comment on the #MeToo allegations against him
After actor Payal Ghosh dragged Richa Chadha's name in her #MeToo allegations against Anurag Kashyap, she took a stand against Miss Ghosh. Richa's lawyer issued a statement, suing Payal Ghosh for defamation. Amidst all this, when Payal levelled these serious allegations against Anurag Kashyap, many actors from the industry who have worked with the filmmaker in the past came out in support of him. However, Richa who got a big break in Gangs Of Wasseypur said in an interview that Anurag can defend himself. She also said that she is not his advocate and will not be going out of her way to defend him.
Talking about how she has been advised not to comment on the filmmaker, Richa in an interview with Barkha Dutt said, “I’m not an advocate for Mr Kashyap. He has a very sound legal team, he can defend himself. A lot of people have offered their support to him, and yes to an extent it is legal advice. They were out to make me a party, as a criminal conspirator in this case against him. So, I am following legal advice and not going out of my way and defending him. He can defend himself.”
Asked about why she has taken such a ‘cautious’ approach in talking about Anurag, unlike several others, Richa told, “I have done one film with him, in 2010-11, which was Gangs of Wasseypur, which went on to become a cult film. When he produced films I was in, like Masaan, etc, I had very, very limited interaction with him. I don’t really hang out with him, I haven’t. In the past decade I’ve met him... I can count on my fingers the number of times I’ve met him, mostly at screenings.”
Reportedly, Richa even sought a public apology and a whopping amount for the damages but Payal Ghosh shared that she won’t be apologising to Richa. Responding to which, Richa shared a copy of the court order, mentioning that Payal Ghosh ‘will tender unconditional apology’.
